Most anticipated books of August 2016

August is upon us.
And with it, some of the most amazing books of the year!

It's been a long wait, but they're finally here.
And I'm SO excited to rave all about them with you!
Shall we?

It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover
                                              Coming out: August 2, 2016

I'm both terrified and excited of reading this book.
Does it make sense to you? If you've read at least one Colleen Hoover book (except for Maybe Someday), you probably understand.

Still, I'm going to pick this book up.
Whether I would actually be able to finish it or not... that remains to be seen.
I probably don't make much sense right now. I'm going to explain it all in a post I'm planning to make about 'Colleen Hoover's books - is there such a thing as too many feels?'

Nevernight by Jay Kristoff
Coming out: August 11, 2016

Oh my god, the time is FINALLY upon us!

If you've been around my blog for a while, you probably know how obsessed I am with Nevernight and Gemina.
No? Well, you do now.

I can't even begin to describe my excitement in words.
Well, I have to admit though: it has been diminished a little after seeing some bloggers I follow really not liking this book.
After waiting for it for so long, after expecting of it so much, of course I would be terrified, now that the time is actually here, of not liking it.

But I'm not going to let my fear ruin it for me.
After all:
Never flinch.
Never fear.
Never forget.

Nevernight, here I come.

The Magnus Chase Book of Norse Deities and Mythical Creatures by Rick Riordan
Coming out: August 16, 2016

I don't know if I should call it a book, a short story or I don't know what.
I have no idea what it is, but I don't need any kind of motivation other than the words 'Rick Riordan'.
So as I wait for book 2 of The Trials of Apollo and Magnus Chase, I guess I would pick this one up.

Unknown by Wendy Higgins
Coming out: August 16, 2016

Yeah, I know... the cover is not very appealing.
I'm one of those readers who tend to dislike covers with humans\faces on them.

So what is this book?
It's a NA-romance-Sci-fi-apocalyptic new series by Wendy Higgins.
Wendy Higgins is the author who wrote the Sweet Evil YA trilogy and the Eurona Duology (also YA). Yep, this is her first NA book.

The Sweet Evil trilogy was a rather enjoyable read - I enjoyed the writing style, the characters and the plot.
The first book in the Eurona Duology, however, I could not get into.
Which is why I want to give Wendy Higgins another chance with the Unknown.
I'm really hoping to like this one.

Furthermore by Tahereh Mafi
Coming out: August 30, 2016

Can I just say: I love the cover!
It has something very fairy-tale like about it.
And I love fairy-tales.

Ever since finishing the Shatter Me trilogy last year, Tahereh Mafi has become an author I would pick up any book she writes.
And even though I didn't have amazing experiences with Middle Grade books (other than Percy Jackson and Artemis Fowl), it's Tahereh Mafi! Of course I'm going to read this book. No questions asked.

Quick update: I got the amazing chance of reading a sneak peek of Furthermore from Netgalley, and oh my goodness... I'm already loving it. It's so uniqe and so easy to dive straight into. I absolutely love Alice (our protagonist). Finishing the sneek peak was horrible because all I wanted was MORE. MORE. MORE.
I had my doubts, especially considering it's a MD book, but I honestly should never have doubted Tahereh Mafi's talent of writing.
I'm beyong excited! I can't wait for August 30! I want more!

I'm only saddened by the thought I won't be able to read this book in a physical copy and swoon all over this beautiful cover.

And those are my most anticipated books of August 2016!
Honestly, I'm frighteningly excited about them all.
And the first of them is coming out tomorrow!
*taking a deep breath*
There is nothing better than picking up an anticipated book.
or scarier.
Well then, what do you think of this list? Have anything to add?
What are your most anticipated books this month?
Tell me all about it, so we can freak out together.
Until then...

  2. I have my eye mainly on Nevernight because I haven't read anything by Jay Kristoff yet and he sounds cool. I think I'll read Illuminae first though!

    1. Nevernight, Nevernight, Nevernight, Nevernight...
Sorry, it became sort of a chant of mine this past month. The only cure is for me to finally read this book already '^^
I'm deperatly hoping to love it, and I hope you'll love it too! But I think it would be great to start with Illuminae first. I know for a fact Illuminae is amazing, after all ;)

  4. I am so so excited about Furthermore! I never really pre-order books, but I pre-ordered this one. The world sounds so magical and unique, and I love Tahereh Mafi's writing style! I also read the Netgalley sneak peek, and it was SO GOOD. The 30th of August can't come soon enough.

    1. YES YES YES! I'm dangerously excited about Furthermore after that sneek peak. Seriously, I just have to have this book already!
I can't have it in physical copy (sad times), but as long as I can read it... I'm happy (:

      Thanks for commenting, Laura! ^^

    1. Oh yes, I've seen them! SO AMAZING! If I could only afford to buy them though... (:
I pre-ordered the UK edition of Nevernight and it's almost on its way so... can't wait!

Definitely. If you never read a Tahereh Mafi book before... please do :D

  6. Oooh, I’m looking forward to so many of these! NEVERNIGHT is definitely on my TBR, because after ILLUMINAE Jay Kristoff is on my definitely-will-read list. FURTHERMORE also looks really good, but I haven’t finished the SHATTER ME series (oops!), so I have no idea how it’s gonna be. Also to reply to your comment on my blog–I really liked POISON PRINCESS! It’s kind of slow to begin with, but when I finished I wanted to read the second book immediately.

    Happy reading! :D

    1. YES Nevernight!
After recovering from Illuminae, I realized suddenly that I subconsciously put Jay Kristoff on my definitely-will-read list too.
This guy is just... have you seen him on twitter? He's *hilarious* :'D

Furthermore and Shatter me are not connected at all so you can still pick Furthermore up even if you didn't finish the Shatter me trilogy. But I do highly recommend finishing the Shatter me trilogy though ;)

I'm so glad to hear that! I've been wanting to read Poison Princess for a long while. But I've decided to wait for the last book to come out before jumping right into this series, so... not long now! (:

Thanks Rabiah! I was really happy to see your comment ^^

    1. I also found out about it really not long ago. I was really surprised - and pleased, of course - to hear about a new series by Wendy Higgins. I'm very much looking forward to it!
      I hope we'll both love it (:

  9. Is Unknown the first in a series? I'd like to read that genre! Also, I'm not sure if I want to read Nevernight or not D: I feel like it has so many mixed reviews. I'm skeptical!

    1. I think it's a duology (:
I haven't had the chance to read it yet but I'm looking forward to trying it out!
Ah, I totally get what you mean about Nevernight. As excited as I was to read it, I was also terrified I wouldn't like it. But... I'm actually reading it right now. And while it was a little hard to get into, by page 50 or so I really started to get the hang of it. I'm about 100 pages in and I'm liking it (:
If you do decide to pick it up, I suggest you give it at least until page 100 - no matter how confused or weirded out you are - before deciding if you want to keep going ot stop.
I hope you do enjoy it!

Thank you for your comment, Molly ^__^

  10. Unknown by Wendy Higgins sounds beyond amazing! And I'm not the hugest fan of the cover either. But I bet it's fun to read and I heard that it involves a lot less romance, in the first book, unlike her other books. So we'll see. Fingers crossed we both love!

    1. I have yet to start reading Unknown but I'm really looking forward to trying it out!
Not to mention, I saw a lot of positive reviews on goodreads about this book.
Me too - I really hope we'll both love it :D

      Thank you, Jen! (:
