Most anticipated books of October 2016

October is here!
Time sure does fly, huh?
But you can hear all about that in my September wrap up (coming soon).
As of right now... we're going to discuss our most anticipated books of October (do I hear squealing?)

October is another huge month in the new releases department. Here I have to show you 6 books I'm dying to read.
Ready?
Because here they are.

The Hammer of Thor by Rick Riordan
Coming out: October 4, 2016

Opening our October is non other than The Hammer of Thor by Rick Riordan!
As you may (or may not) know, I didn't absolutely love the first book in the Gods of Asgard trilogy (as one would expect me to love a Rick Riordan book). I had my... issues with it.

That being said, I'm still SO excited about The Hammer of Thor. Yes, I was disappointed with the previous book, but not in levels that will prevent me from reading the second one. I mean, it's Rick Riordan. I'll be reading his books into eternity.

Fear the Drowning Deep by Sarah Glenn Marsh
Coming out: October 4, 2016

I was only mildly excited about this book at the beginning.
That was before all the gushing reviews started pouring in.

I'm not even sure what this book is about because the synopsis sounds really weird. But also really interesting.
All I know is that this is a YA fantasy-paranormal historical-fiction romance-mystery book.
My favorite genres combined.
Yes, I'm reading this.

Gemina by Jay Kristoff & Amie Kaufman
Coming out: October 18, 2016
My rating: 4 stars

No-no, you are not mistaken. I have indeed already read Gemina (one of my most anticipated books EVER).
How?
I was lucky enough to win a giveaway of an arc of Gemina and a hardcover of Illuminae. And you guys... they are so beautiful. Both inside and out.
I cannot wait for you all to read Gemina so we can talk all about it! 17 more days now - stay strong.

Tattoo Atlas by Tim Floreen
Coming out: October 18, 2016

A couple of months ago I read Tim Floreen debut novel Willful Machines, and very much enjoyed it (you can check out the review in my July Wrap Up). Now, Tim Floreen is back to us with another LGBT sci-fi YA book that sounds like something no one should miss out on reading.

So excited about this one!

Red Winter by Annette Marie
Coming out: October 21, 2016

This is a Japanese YA romance folklore story.

The story follows a girl named Emi. Emi is destined to serve as a human host for a goddess. This is the only thing she ever knew. That is until she saves the life of Shiro - a Yokai (demon) who is an enemy to the goddess - and ends up accidentally binding him to her.

A short excerpt from the book (shown in the Goodreads synopsis):

"Ah, yes, you did save me, and I am very grateful." He idly tugged at a lock of his hair as his gaze slid down her and back up again. "I am in your debt. Tell me your desire and I will fulfill it."

"My--my desire?" She chocked.

He smirked again. "A favor, little miko. I am saying I owe you a favor."

Right, so... this book sounds SO GOOD. I can't even.
As someone who is obsessed with everything Japanese related, this book sounds like everything I could hope for. Can't wait!

Journey's End by Rachel Hawkins
Coming out: October 25, 2016

Rachel Hawkins is the brilliant author of the Hex Hall trilogy and Rebel Belle (read them - read them now).
Journey's End is her first MD book, following following a girl named Nollie in her adventure in the town Journey's End.

I don't usually read MD books and the synopsis doesn't sound like something I would go for, but I've known Rachel Hawkins for 4 books now and I trust her.
I'm very much looking forward to seeing what she has for us in Journey's End.

And that's it for our October new releases!
All those books coming out this October sound so amazing, don't they?
Which one are you most excited for? Is there any new release I didn't mention here that you are anticipating? What's your favorite book cover? (Mine is definitely Red Winter).
Let me here your thoughts! You know how much I love to (:
I'll see you in my next post!
Until then...

  1. Such a great list! I have Fear the Drowning Deep in TBR, too. Journey's End looks pretty good and the cover is gorgeous. Tattoo Atlas sounds like a ride! Wow, I really want to read some reviews and see if the author made the whole concept work, because I'm a little afraid of how the personality disorder gets represented.
That's so cool that you won Gemina and Illuminae! I know how much you loved them, so it's fantastic that you have physical copies. I've seen pictures and they are incredible.
I have one question, how do you keep track of upcoming releases? I usually hear from other bloggers and through Twitter, but whenever I want to look up new releases on Goodreads on my own, I have a hard time.

    1. Ah, then I shall tell you my super-secret recipe for keeping track on new releases *wink-wink*.
First things first, I have a Word document where I write, according to months, my anticipated new releases (yeah, I'm OCD like that). But how do I hear about those new releases? Well... some of it, like you said, is by hearing bloggers talk about them. But mostly, I actually find my information on goodreads, here: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/73737.YA_Novels_of_2017 (notice you can choose whatever year you want, up to 2019). Or you can just write on google: most anticipated books of *insert year\month here* goodreads.
Also, every now and them I check out my favorite authors goodreads page to see if they have an upcoming new release coming up.
And this is basically how I do it since 2013 (:

From my expirience with Willful Machines, I pretty much trust the author to do a great job with the concept of Tattoo Atlas. But I'll let you know what I think once I read it!

You have no idea how many times I look at my copies of Illuminae and Gemina and sigh in happiness :D

Thanks you! I'm so glad you liked it ^__^

  4. I'm excited for The Hammer of Thor and Gemina but I'm most excited about one that isn't featured here, Iron Man: The Gauntlet by Eoin Colfer. I might die of excitement when I finally have my hands on this book. I'm not even kidding. lol

    1. Eoin Colfer is releasing a new book? About Iron Man? Woah, I had no idea.
Artemis Fowel is like one of my all time favorite book series!
I would have loved to read a new Eon Colfer book. But I'm afraid I don't read comics\graphic novels.
Still, I'm so excited for you! I hope you'll love it :D
There is nothing like waiting for an anticipated book and then having it - finally - in your hands :')

  7. I SO have to read Red Winter! It really sounds amazing :D Even though I love Japan I haven't really read any japan themed/ japanese books so far. Okay so I maay be kind of stereotypical but I just couldn't help it. The first thing I thought was Sesshomaru from Inuyasha as I read that little excerpt.

    1. My point exactly! I LOVE Japan but I haven't read any Japanese books whatsoever (which is truly baffling). I'm going to fix this with Red Winter - which, honestly, sounds too cool to be true (:

Wow, I can't believe I still haven't watched Inuyasha. It's like a classic in the anime world, and as an anime-obsessed person like myself... yeah, I need to watch it '^^

Welcome to the book community, Klara! It's a beautiful place, filled with truly amazing people. I'm so happy you dropped by :D

    2. Zoey INUYASHAA!! You SO have to start watching it - like right now! I first watched it when I was 13 or so and I still love it till this day though has to share my anime heart with quite a few other animes *dreamy sigh*. I am currently all on love with Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. F.A is nothing compared to Brotherhood! I can recommend that as well.

  8. GEMINA!!! I don't know how I'm going to be able to keep waiting. I want it NOW, and it's killing me!!!
Ahhh, Red Winter! Have you read Annette Marie's Steel and Stone series before? It's absolutely amazing! And if Red Winter is anything like that series (which I'm sure it is), this book is going to blow our minds away!
Yay, Hammer of Thor! I'm hoping Annabeth makes a cameo in it again :D
